Supplementary Reading to the Bedok Reservoir Episode

Faiz interviews the volunteers.

Just for the record, SGHC has never investigated an area that is as huge as Bedok Reservoir. We were quite under-manned that night but thankfully, Faiz and Raz got some help from their friends during the night's investigations.

The delay in the production of this Episode was basically due to my busy work schedule and so I was unable to edit the video on time. We would like to apologise to the fans for this untimely delay.

Anyways, this Episode will be the last one for Season 3 (2011 - 2012). Concurrently, the upcoming Episode is considered a Season 4 Episode.

Since the first case of death by 'unnatural causes' that took place on October 31st, 2010, there is a spate of more related incidents that occurs within a span of 2 years. (2010 - 2012).

Let me quote a news report by Channel News Asia on the event itself:

Body found in Bedok Reservoir Park

By Joanne Chan | Posted: 31 October 2010 1504 hrs

SINGAPORE : A body was discovered in a wooded area in Bedok Reservoir Park on Sunday morning.

Police responded to a call at 7am about a man found lying at the top of a hill, just metres from a trail and near Block 742 Bedok Reservoir Road.

An eye-witness who called the MediaCorp hotline said his family was jogging at the reservoir when they came upon the body.

The man, who was wearing an orange shirt and grey shorts, was pronounced dead by paramedics at 7.25am.

It is believed there was a cable tied around the dead man's neck.

Police have classified the case as an unnatural death and investigations are ongoing.

There was not much information found in the news report and thus it is not known whether that deceased was a victim of his own demise or he died due to murder.

Now let me bring your attention to the many suicide cases that has been reported up until today.

Suicide No.2: 20th June 2011, Deceased: Lin Xiao

Suicide No.6: 5th November, 2011, Deceased: Chinese Male

Sixth body found in Bedok Reservoir

Suicide No.7: 28th January, 2012, Deceased: Unidentified Male

Unidentified male body found in Bedok Reservoir

Suicide No.8: 2nd September, 2012, Deceased: Unidentified Male

Another body found at Bedok Reservoir

Suicide No.9: 2nd September, 2012, Deceased: A 74 year old man

2nd body at Bedok Reservoir on same day -- making it total of 9 deaths in area so far

The ninth body was that of a 74 yr old man. He was not found dead in the waters but on a park bench. Let me quote a news report from the same news site:

A spokesperson from the police said:

"Police received a call yesterday at about 1.59 pm informing us of a man found unresponsive on a bench at Bedok Reservoir Park.

"Upon police arrival, the body of a 74-year-old man was found motionless on the bench at the said location.

"He was subsequently pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.

"Police are investigating the unnatural death."
All of the above cases were classified as 'Death by Suicide' or as the Police states it, 'Death by Unnatural Causes', except for the first incident in 2010 and the death of the 74 yr old man. Police has not yet published any reports pertaining to the 7 cases which involves a dead body in the waters. So why does SGHC is keen in 'jumping' into Bedok Reservoir?

What caught my attention was not the 'Headlines' found in the news, but, a group of paranormal investigators known as Singapore Haunted. They published an episode that shows their lead investigator, Noel Boyd (he has left the group since), trying to communicate with the spirits of the dead mother and son. Now, I won't say that the evidence is credible enough, as is the case with most paranormal investigation videos, which are normally subjected to scrutiny.

(Source: http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sgseen/this_urban_jungle/806380/eerie_crying_voices_heard_at_bedok_reservoir_are_they_of_mum.html)

In my conclusion to that night's investigation, and after gathering all the facts, I believed that Bedok Reservoir might be haunted, or cursed, as well as it might not be so. Sometimes it is best that a mystery should be left as it is.

To end this subject matter, I would like to say thanks to those that has helped us out that night. Bedok Reservoir is such a huge place for SGHC to cover on all grounds.

KTM Tunnel

There is a tunnel that goes under the AYE (Ayer Rajah Expressway) which is actually the old KTM railway line. SGHC has come to know from our 'source' that the place is haunted. Now what does that person mean when he says it is 'haunted'?

Our source tells us that he had a paranormal investigation event with one of the local paranormal groups in Singapore. He admits that he is somewhat a 'ghost' magnet; he succumbs easily to spirits 'possessing' him. How authentic his case is, we won't come to a conclusion...just yet.

SGHC is seeking out more stories or if possible, anyone who is willing to share with us any information that relates to the 'haunting' of this place.

Season 4 is upon us!

I know that we at SGHC have been too quiet lately. Well, we have a few updates for those that are about to forget about us. But!

Before we go on with the updates, I, Shariff, would like to personally apologize for being dormant. It's not that we have disbanded. It's not that we have lost our interest in the paranormal. It's not that SGHC is dead. We are alive and breathing and currently, honestly, we're a bit busy with our working life.

Someone's getting married. Rudy is busy with work. Raz is going for a holiday in the Phillipines in January. And myself, I am busy with home and pursuing my other interests, namely, I am going to start schooling again. Well, that is the least of our worries...

Anyways, we have a few updates in store for you all.

Firstly, we will not be using Vimeo as our video host anymore. We find that Vimeo brings us lesser viewers, unlike Youtube, hell; it is a household name! Don't believe me? Go ask your neighbor's kid.

Secondly, I am very busy in salvaging the leftovers of our recent investigation into the Bedok Reservoir suicides. I know that promises are meant to be broken, but, with my fingers crossed, I hope to release the video by February soon.

Thirdly, we have run out any interesting new leads to investigate. It is not that the ghosts have gone home back to whence they came. It is just that...well...we have no new places to investigate. This is where you, our fans and friends, come into play.

We need new sources. You know how our hearts are aching for another shot at storming a haunted place with our devices and gears and all.

So until then, please remember - oops! Almost forgot about this: Our main site, sghccrew.com, has been shut down. we no longer require such a fanciful and expensive website and so we're sticking to this good ole Blogger platform! We're kinda old fashioned, ya know.

So until next time, keep tuned in to us and as always, Happy New Year and Happy Hauntings!

TPS LIVE: Fear of Ghosts, 8pm (GMT+8)

Watch live streaming video from sghc at livestream.com

The fear of ghosts in many human cultures is based on beliefs that some ghosts may be malignant towards people and dangerous (within the range of all possible attitudes, including mischievous, benign, indifferent, etc.).

The fear of ghosts is widespread even in post-industrial societies. Philosopher Thomas V. Morris wrote:
"...I am perfectly aware that the fear of ghosts is contrary to science, reason and religion. If I were sentenced to spend a night alone in a graveyard, I should already know that twigs would snap and the wind moan and that there would be half-seen movements in the darkness. And yet, after I had been frog-marched into the graveyard, I should feel a thrill of fear every time one of these things happened..."

TPS LIVE: Strange HDB Noises, 27th May 2012, 8pm (GMT+8)

Singapore is an island country with a limited lan space. Most of the locals are apartment dwellers, living in government built HDBs (Housing Development Board) apartments.
There have been many stories that speak of noises; noises such as falling marbles, sounds of furnitures being dragged across the floor and many more.

What could all this noises be? Could there be a rationale explanation or a logical explanation to all this weird noises?

The Mysterious Pontianak

Many have claim to come face to face with an entity which is known to the malays as the Pontianak (Pohn-Tee-Ah-nark). But what actually is this creature...or this female entity?

Many movies were created regarding her and it has become a custom of such to the Asians, especially the Malays.

Legend has it that the first pontianak was actually a human being that was forcefully raped and murdered with her still born child inside of her. She is given life to exact revenge on the male species eventually, especially her tormentors.

How true is the legend and haunting of this mysterious being? Join Shariff as we get to the bottom of this entity that has been terrorizing everyone that crosses her path.

If you have any experience with her, please do not be afraid to tell the tale so we can understand more about this mysterious creature known as the Pontianak.

Join Shariff on the 27th May for this episode.

Bedok Reservoir: The Worst is Over?

The last report of someone that died there was reported on the 29th of January 2012. It was reported on the Sunday Times edition of Straits Times.

3 months have passed and there are, fortunately, no more reported cases of death by drowning or suicide by drowning that came up.

But the mystery remains; 7 deaths in the same location, sometimes the suicide itself happening during broad daylight, might sound the alarm to anyone that has a broad sense curiosity. Why did these suicides happen during the day, when there are many park users around? And for those that died, did they want a kind of intervention in their lives, so as to gain some kind of attention in addressing their problems? Or is there something sinister that is going on which no one doesn't want to talk about?

Join Shariff and Rudy as well as Raz on the 6th of May, Sunday, 8pm as we discussed the issue at hand as well as we recap the key highlights of our investigations held in March 2012. The video and audio data are still in review so please stay tuned for the official release of The Paranormal Show Episode 5 in mid year.
